Abstract
This paper describes the approach used by Oerlikon Aerospace since 1993 to define and implement software and systems engineering processes:
- First, the steps taken to assess and define a software process are described using the Software Engineering Institute's Capability Maturity Model (SEI CMM) framework.
- The steps to develop the systems engineering process using the SEI CMM framework and two processes from the Software Productivity Consortium are then described.
- Process integration is discussed.
- Since the human dimension of the implementation of new technologies is critical to the success of our effort, a few human issues are discussed.
- Finally, lessons learned and the next steps are described.
