Abstract
The aviation industry is looking for solutions to reduce aircraft emissions released into the atmosphere. One of the solutions optimizes flight paths and traffic control procedures. In this research, a flight optimization method based on Dijkstra’s algorithm is used to find the optimal minimal time path and to simplify cost calculations. Numerous flight simulations with varying date, speed, altitude, and destination showed a 2% decrease in the amount of fuel consumed. This reduction, in addition to representing a saving for airlines, results in decreasing pollution released into the atmosphere.
